MAN JAILED FOLLOWING ALLEGED ASSAULT

A Roseburg man was jailed following an alleged assault, on Friday.

A Roseburg Police report said at 2:00 p.m. two people were in a vehicle in the 3500 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. The report said a 72-year old man started punching a victim repeatedly, knocking a tooth out and causing a large knot to the back of her head.

The report said the victim drove to the courthouse where she called dispatch. The suspect walked away from the vehicle and went to the Roseburg Police Department, where he turned himself in. When an officer contacted the victim, she reportedly had blood splatter on her face, shirt and the inside the vehicle.

The man was charged with fourth-degree assault and for recklessly endangering another person.

Bail was set at $12,500.
