COUNTY WITH SURGE IN COVID-19 CASES AND HOSPITALIZATIONS

Douglas County has had a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the past week.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Recovery Update said between July 18th and July 24th 130 new COVID cases were reported, which is by far the largest week since late May. 25 more people have received new positive test results for COVID-19, as of Monday. The update said the total number of cases is now at 4,319. Of those, 4,121 are people that have had positive test results and 198 are presumptive. There have been 87 deaths. 20 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 16 locally and 4 outside the area. 216 people are in isolation. 223 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 439 people that are either in isolation or quarantine.

The weekend recap said that on Saturday 31 more people received new positive test results for COVID-19. On Sunday, 16 more people received positive test results and 3 more people were presumptive.
