A Drain man was jailed for multiple counts of assault and recklessly endangering another person, following a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate Five near Rice Hill on Friday night.

A report from Oregon State Police sat just before 9:30 p.m. troopers and emergency personnel were sent to the scene following reports that the crash was blocking the southbound lanes of the roadway and that there were injuries.

According to witnesses a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the back of a minivan. The second vehicle rolled and came to an uncontrolled rest on its passenger side, against the center median. The report said the driver of the first vehicle showed multiple signs of impairment and was unable to complete field sobriety tests.

The occupants of the minivan were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center and later were transferred to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the wreck, 22-year old Hunter Olson, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, five counts of recklessly endangering another person and for DUII-alcohol. Bail was set at $541,250.
