Mercy Foundation’s Healthy Kids Outreach Program has been awarded a grant from the K-12 Summer Learning Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation.

A release said the funds will support a collaboration between HKOP and SNAP-Ed’s Food Hero program to provide summer health and nutrition education at the Roseburg and Canyonville Farmers Markets. Lisa Platt of the foundation said at these markets, fresh produce along with hygiene and dental kits will be handed out to kids. Kid-friendly activities, food tastings, and crafts will focus on nutrition and health education.

The release said farmers markets run every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  in Roseburg, and on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Canyonville, through the end of August.
