The Jack Fire, burning on the Umpqua National Forest, is 35 percent contained, with no change in acreage.

An update from the Northwest Incident Management Team 9 said the fire remains at 16,667 acres. North of Highway 138E, crews continue holding, securing and mopping up lines along the west flank near Steamboat and the east flank near Dry Creek. Crews plan to complete burn operations closing primary line along the northeastern edge of the fire.

The update said south of Highway 138E, firefighters aided by air resources have established containment lines along the western and southern perimeter of the fire. Crews continue burning vegetation to achieve depth along control lines and are beginning mop-up of the previous day’s burn. Contingency control line has been completed from the 4750 Road to Twin Lakes Road. Along the southeast, firefighters will scout alternative line locations to hold the fire at its current location and prep alternate control lines.

Crews continue to mop-up and patrol around structures in the Dry Creek area and around Horseshoe Bend Campground.

Evacuated locations and levels updated on Wednesday, remain the same.

The Oregon Department of Transportation re-opened Highway 138E in the fire area, on Friday.
