DEFAZIO ANNOUNCES FIRST DAY OF CHILD TAX CREDIT

On Thursday, Congressman Peter DeFazio said it was the first day that Oregonians starting receiving Child Tax Credit payments of $300 per month per child.

DeFazio said the payments are part of President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, which DeFazio said he strongly supported and helped pass into law.

A release said:

*43,200 households, covering over 90 percent of all children in the state’s 4th congressional district, could get the funds monthly until December of this year, and perhaps more after filing their taxes next year.

*Nearly all working families should get their monthly payments automatically with no further action required.

*Families who did not file a tax return for 2019 or 2020 or who did not use the IRS Non-filers tool last year to sign up for the Economic Impact Payments should go online to: https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/child-tax-credit-non-filer-sign-up-tool

DeFazio said “The Child Tax Credit Payments is welcome aid to millions of families in Southwest Oregon”. He said the payments will lift nearly 8,600 children out of poverty in his congressional district alone
