An Air Quality Alert is still in effect for most of Douglas County.

An update from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality said a high concentration of smoke particulates is still coming from the Jack and Bootleg fires.

The alert also includes eastern Jackson County, and Klamath and Lake counties.

The update said smoke can irritate the eyes and lungs and can worsen some medical conditions. People most at risk to adverse health effects includes infants, young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and pregnant women.

Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on the weather. Go to: https://aqicn.org/map/oregon/ to check current conditions.
