Most Oregonians who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will receive emergency allotments in July.
A release from the Oregon Department of Human Services said the federal government has approved emergency allotments every month since March of 2020, to give SNAP recipients additional support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The release said this month, approximately 465,000 SNAP households will receive approximately $66.5 million in emergency allotments in addition to their regular SNAP benefits.
Emergency allotments will be available on July 13th for current SNAP households. New SNAP households will receive the emergency allotments July 30th or August 3rd.
The release said SNAP recipients do not have to take any action to receive these supplemental benefits as they will be issued directly on their EBT cards.
