On Wednesday, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners officially ended the Emergency Declaration for the COVID-19 Response in the county at their weekly board meeting.
An update from the Board said that does not mean they are ending the COVID response in the county. It says they continue to be the Public Health Authority for the county and will continue to dedicate, support and delegate any and all resources necessary to provide COVID services, along with the assistance of County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer and the staff at the Douglas Public Health Network.
The Board has disbanded the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team. These announcements come on the heels of the State of Oregon lifting the remaining COVID Risk restrictions under Oregon’s emergency statutes on June 30th. Moving forward, COVID-19 updates will be coming from the Board with assistance from Dr. Dannenhoffer and the staff at DPHN.
The Douglas County COVID-19 Weekday Update said there are 7 more people with new positive test results for COVID in the county, and 2 presumptive cases have been moved to positive, with a positive test result, as of Wednesday. The total number of cases is now at 4,027. Of those, 3,480 are people that have received positive test results and 187 are presumptive. There have been 84 deaths. 10 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 5 locally and 5 outside the area. 98 people are in isolation. 120 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 218 people that are either in isolation or quarantine. That is an increase of 13 people since Tuesday.
