RIVERBEND LIVE! SERIES BEGINS 25TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR

The Riverbend Live! summer concert series begins its 25th anniversary year Friday night at Winston’s Riverbend Park.

Following the success of Music on the Half Shell, Dick Nichols, who had the original vision for Half Shell, along with wife Mo, started the second series to provide another opportunity for quality entertainment, on a different night of the week, at a smaller location. Nichols wanted one show each year dedicated to cowboy poetry and western music. A youth theater program was added the third year, and both of those have continued along with a variety of genres of music, ever since.

In 2020 however, Riverbend Live! had to move to being on the radio only, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Riverbend Live! Reconnect, on News Radio 1240 KQEN and 104-5 SAM-FM, featured interviews with past performers and music from many artists that had appeared in Winston over the years.

Live music resumes with American singer-songwriter Marc Broussard. His style is best described as “Bayou Soul”. (Marc1 :21 quick fade).  Broussard has released nine albums, appeared on numerous national television programs and has toured widely.

Music will begin at 7:00 p.m. Those attending can bring their dinner, or purchase it from one of the vendors. Wine and beer are allowed at the shows. Riverbend Live! continues through the end of July. Complete details at www.riverbendlive.org.

Marc Broussard will be our guest on Inside Douglas County, Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. on News Radio 1240 KQEN.
