A passenger was seriously injured and a driver is in jail, following a single-vehicle wreck on Tuesday night.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly after 9:00 p.m. dispatchers received reports of the crash in the area of Cleveland Rapids Road and Garden Valley Road in Melrose. O’Dell said deputies arrived on the scene to find a pickup which had rolled several times.

The driver, 30-year old Cody Lancaster of Roseburg, showed signs of impairment at the scene. His passenger, 29-year old Tristan Harding, also of Roseburg, was unresponsive and pinned under the vehicle. She was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center, and was later flown to an out of area hospital for further care.

O’Dell said Lancaster was also transported to Mercy and later released. He was charged with third-degree assault, recklessly endangering, and for driving under the influence. After arraignment, bail was set at $35,000.
