Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Myrtle Creek Rural Fire Department responded to a barn fire Monday morning.

Kyle Reed of DFPA said the fire was approximately four miles northwest of Myrtle Creek, near Vintage Lane. Firefighters arrived at about 11:45 a.m. and reported that the barn was fully involved and the fire had spread to about a quarter acre of wildland fuels adjacent to the structure. The Vintage Lane Fire burned a half-acre of grass and blackberry briars before the forward spread of the fire was stopped. Reed said the barn was a total loss, but no injuries were reported. Crews remained on the scene of the incident until 2:00 p.m., mopping up hot spots and securing control lines.

Additional personnel and resources came from several other agencies to assist with the Vintage Lane Fire.
