A few special activities are happening on Memorial Day, though less is going on due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Glide Veterans Memorial will conduct an outdoor ceremony at 9:00 a.m. to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives while serving and protecting the nation while in the military. Participants will include a color guard and a chaplain from the VFW Oregon District #12, the singing of the national anthem by Colleen Bechtel, a bugler, a bagpipe player and more. Coffee and pastries will be available. The Glide Veterans Memorial is adjacent to the Glide Community Center on North Umpqua Highway in Glide.

In Myrtle Creek, the annual breakfast will not take place. However, 200 flags will be posted around the Myrtle Creek, Tri City and Canyonville areas.

A flag ceremony will happen at Century 21 the Neil Company Real Estate on Northwest Stewart Parkway in Roseburg at 11:00 a.m. It will be followed by a free barbecue at the VFW at 1127 Northeast Walnut Street in Roseburg.
