A Roseburg man died Saturday from injuries sustained following a motorcycle versus SUV crash, on Friday afternoon.
Sergeant Daniel Allen from Roseburg Police said 26-year old Erik Brown was riding a street motorcycle which hit the other vehicle at about 1:35 p.m. near the corner of West Harvard Avenue and Stanton Street. Brown was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center before being flown to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland for treatment of head injuries. Allen said Brown was wearing an approved helmet.
The driver of the SUV was not injured in the accident but was examined by medical personnel at the scene.
The motorcycle was badly damaged by the collision and was seized by police as they investigated whether speed was a factor in the crash.
The initial investigation indicated the motorcycle was traveling east on West Harvard in the inside lane of travel when it passed a slower vehicle by swerving into the outside lane. Allen said the SUV was turning off of Harvard and onto Stanton Street at about the same time, taking it into the path of the motorcycle which collided with the right side of the second vehicle.
