A Roseburg woman died in a Thursday night two-vehicle crash.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said just after 6:30 p.m. dispatchers received a report of a wreck in the area of Del Rio Road near Wilbur Road.

O’Dell said deputies arrived on scene and discovered a sedan had been traveling eastbound on Del Rio Road. When the vehicle was approaching Wilbur Road, the driver made an abrupt turn into the path of an oncoming SUV. The driver of the sedan, 43-year old Michael Garcia and an infant in the vehicle, were injured and transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for treatment. The infant was later released. Garcia was flown to an out of area hospital. Garcia’s passenger, 25-year old Alexandria Contreras-Garcia was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the SUV was treated for minor injuries. She is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.

O’Dell said the crash remains under investigation, although alcohol is believed to be a factor.
