A 55-year old man was hurt in wreck near Canyonville on Thursday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 1:00 p.m. a driver in the 4400 block of Gazely Road said he looked away from the road to help his dog onto the passenger seat. The vehicle ran off the road and hit a small tree. The man said his back was hurting him and he had some blood coming from his nose.

The man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical where he was treated and released. The dog was taken into safekeeping.
