1 more person has died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 25 more people have received new positive test results, and there is 1 new presumptive case, as of Saturday.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the 73rd death was a 58-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 2nd and passed away on Friday.

An update from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team said they are seeing “…a definite and concerning spike in new school cases with both school staff and students”. The update said the common denominator is that these cases are from residents that have chosen not to get vaccinated. The total number of cases is now at 3,424. Of those, 3,259 are people that have received positive test results, and 165 are presumptive. 13 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 8 locally and 5 outside the area. 165 people are in isolation. 352 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 520 people that are either in isolation or quarantine. That is an increase of 63 people since Friday.
