On Wednesday, Douglas County Commissioners issued a proclamation calling upon citizens to join them in honoring and thanking emergency medical services workers and volunteers during Emergency Medical Services Week.
Commissioner Chris Boice said “Emergency medical services are a vital public service; that members of EMS teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week and access to quality EMS dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience a sudden illness or injury”.
Emergency Medical Services Week runs through Saturday.
