AVIVA HEALTH OPENING DEDICATED COVID-19 VACCINATION CLINIC

May 17, 2021 3:50 a.m.

Aviva Health is opening a dedicated COVID-19 vaccination clinic site on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.

The clinic will be at 4221 Northeast Stephens Street, across the street from its main Roseburg location near Costco.

A release said the new vaccination site, which has its own dedicated clinical staff, will ease workflows while still giving area residents convenient access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

Aviva Health Vice President of Community Health Christin Rutledge said the opening couldn’t have come at a better time, with vaccinations opening to people as young as 12 years old.

Aviva Health, in cooperation with the Douglas Education Service District, will host a COVID-19 vaccination event at the new site for people age 12 and older this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Rutledge said Aviva is excited to again partner with ESD to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to school-age children and teens. Rutledge said, “As more and more people are protected from the virus. we move closer to returning to some semblance of normalcy”.

Parental or guardian consent is required to vaccinate people age 12 to 14, but this consent requirement does not necessarily require that a parent or guardian go with the youth to receive the vaccination. Written consent can be obtained in advance. Under Oregon law, minors age 15 and over may consent to medical treatment, including vaccinations when provided by a physician or other medical professionals operating under their license. The release said families are encouraged to make decisions about vaccinations together.

Regular clinic hours will be Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. To schedule an appointment during the week or for Saturday’s event, call 672-9596.
