Governor Kate Brown has ordered that all flags at all Oregon public institutions be flown at half-staff on Saturday in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day.
A release said the day is set aside each year during National Police Week, from May 9th through May 15th to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
Brown said, “Peace Officers Memorial Day pays tribute to fallen officers at all levels of law enforcement, including local, state, federal, tribal and military law enforcement”. Brown said “Today we honor our fallen officers, thank them for their service, and officer solace to their families and friends”.
