An industrial landowner representative located a natural cover fire Tuesday morning, while traveling to a worksite in the Kent Creek area, six miles southwest of Winston.

Kyle Reed of the Douglas Forest Protective Association said the fire was estimated to be several acres in size when it was discovered, burning at a slow rate through grass, brush and trees. Reed said personnel and equipment from DFPA responded to the Kent Creek Fire at about 6:00 a.m. and stopped the forward spread at two and a half acres. Crews remained on the scene for several hours, working to mop up hot spots within the interior of the fire.

Reed said no homes were threatened by the fire. The cause is under investigation.
