STEAM Week 2021 begins on Saturday and continues through May 16th

The Umpqua Valley STEAM Hub is under the umbrella of Douglas County Partners for Student Success and offers an approach to teaching and lifelong learning that emphasizes the natural interconnectedness of five separate STEAM disciplines: science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Some of the activities planned for this week include:

*Daily challenges that will give families opportunities to experience STEAM while using household items.

*Glendale Community Library is planning onsite daily challenges for families on May 12th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and May 14th and 15th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

*Oregon Connections will offer weeklong virtual industry chat field trips

*Eastwood self-guided natural trail walk May 8th and May 15th will allow people to visit a fish hatchery, walk through a forest, see a Native American plank house replica, and view wildlife

*Bright Futures Umpqua on May 10th at 5:00 p.m. will feature AmeriCorp members who will teach coding virtually and share information about computer science careers

*Boys & Girls Club of Umpqua Valley will distribute STEAM activity kits to families and will also share daily challenges on its Facebook page
