The driver was hurt in a single vehicle wreck several miles west of Elkton on Thursday night.

A report from Oregon State Police said at about 10:40 p.m. a vehicle was eastbound on Highway 38 when it left the roadway for an unknown reason, and collided with a tree. The vehicle continued down an embankment before finally stopping.

The female driver was transported to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. She was listed in serious condition at last check, according to a hospital spokesperson. A tow company planned to recover the vehicle during the day light.
