A Winston woman was jailed on the charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
A DCSO report said just after 6:30 a.m. the victim reported that his sedan had been stolen from a Roseburg residence. The man said he had started his car and gone back inside the house. When he came back out, the vehicle was gone.
A witness neighbor saw a woman standing by the vehicle. A suspect description was obtained.
At about 1:30 p.m. the vehicle was spotted in the 5000 block of Willis Creek Road. It was found to be unoccupied. An investigation revealed the suspect had possibly walked to a nearby residence. Deputies contacted 42-year old Cheree Lyon at a home in the 4000 block of the road. The report said the woman admitted to taking the car and was arrested.
Lyon was detained on $50,000 bail.
