The Roseburg Public Library will have a memoir writing workshop as part of its first Roseburg Reads community book project.

Katie Fisher of the library said “rough house” author Tina Ontiveros will lead the two-hour event on Thursday May 13th at 6:00 p.m.

Ontiveros was the first person in her family to go to college, earning a bachelor’s degree in literature and a master of fine arts degree in nonfiction writing. She teaches writing and literature at Columbia Gorge Community College in The Dalles.

Fisher said the program comes from a competitive award which includes a $3,000 grant that will help the library implement is first Roseburg Reads community book project with the Douglas Education Service District and Friends of the Roseburg Public Library.
