SUTHERLIN POLICE ARREST MAN FOLLOWING SUNDAY NIGHT INCIDENT

Sutherlin Police arrested a man early Monday for a Sunday night incident.

Captain Kurt Sorenson of Sutherlin Police said at about 11:50 p.m. a resident called 911 because they allegedly caught someone breaking into their vehicle in the 200 block of East Everette Avenue. The reporting person chased the suspect off. The suspect got into an SUV and headed towards Roseburg. The resident initially chased the vehicle but was advised not to.

Sorenson said a short time later, the vehicle was spotted at a business on Northwest Aviation Drive. The vehicle’s occupant, 22-year old Santana Villarreal was contacted. He was on parole and his parole officer placed a detainer on Villarreal. Sorenson said the man had a restricted weapon on his person. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and for being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon along with the parole violation.

Villarreal was held without bail.

Sorensen said the initial incident is still under investigation.
