The Marshall’s Place Fire is now 80 percent contained.

Kyle Reed of the Douglas Forest Protective Association said 95 firefighters, four water tenders, two engines and one bulldozer are assigned to the fire, which is burning four miles from Tiller.

Reed said work continues to extinguish the smoking and smoldering materials within the interior of the fire. With increased containment levels, night shift resources have been scaled back to a two-engine patrol of the fire.

Reed said more accurate mapping was conducted Wednesday afternoon. It shows the fire at 220 acres. No additional growth occurred since Wednesday morning when containment lines were completed around the perimeter of the fire.

The Marshall’s Place Fire began on Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
