RPS ACCEPTING APPLICANTS FOR VACANT SCHOOL BOARD POSITION

Roseburg Public Schools is now accepting applications from local residents interested in serving out the remainder of the Zone 7 Board of Education term, which expires June 30th.

Superintendent Jared Cordon said the seat was formerly held by Director Steve Patterson, who resigned last month.

Cordon said applications will be accepted through May 19th. A release said the school board will give priority consideration to the candidate who wins the seat in the May 18th special district election. In the event that individual does not want to be appointed early, the board will review other candidates who have applied for consideration to fulfill the remainder of the term through June 30th. The board will make an appointment to the seat at its regular meeting on May 26th.

The release said qualified individuals interested in serving on the board, must submit a written letter of interest to the district office by May 19th. To be eligible, a candidate must be a registered voter, have been a resident of the district for one year immediately prior to the appointment and not be an official employee of Roseburg Public Schools.
