A commercial vehicle crash closed the northbound lanes of Interstate Five for approximately thirty minutes early Tuesday morning.

A report from Oregon State Police said at about 1:35 a.m. the vehicle left its lane of travel north of Canyonville and struck guardrail on the right shoulder of the freeway. The 30-year old driver told a trooper a deer jumped out in front of him, causing him to swerve into the guardrail. Two passenger vehicles struck the torn guardrail which was in the roadway.

No one was injured. The passenger vehicles and the commercial motor vehicle all sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene. The CMV driver was cited for failure to drive within a lane.
