A Roseburg woman was hospitalized after her mobility chair reportedly hit a vehicle on Saturday.
A Roseburg Police report said at about 12:40 p.m. a 54-year old motorist was stopped at the intersection of Northeast Stephens and Northeast Hewitt, waiting to turn. The 89-year old woman was coming southbound down the sidewalk toward the intersection in her chair. When the woman got to the intersection, she stopped and the motorist believed she was waiting for him to go. The man said they both moved at the same time and the chair struck the vehicle.
The report said multiple witnesses corroborated the driver’s story. The woman received minor cuts on her legs and was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. She was treated and released according to a hospital spokesperson.
The driver was cited for driving while suspended and for driving uninsured.
