UMPQUA WATERSHEDS HOLDING WEEKEND OF SERVICE

April 19, 2021 3:40 a.m.

Umpqua Watersheds is holding a Weekend of Service in honor of Earth Day, on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the annual River Clean-Up will be held to help pick up litter along the banks of the Umpqua River. Ryan Kincaid, Environmental Education and Outreach Leader, said it will be a COVID-conscious event, with participants signing up in family groups or with others with whom they normally are in regular contact with. Each group will be assigned to a particular location. An additional component of this event is a collection of data regarding water quality. To learn more about the clean-up, check out the events calendar on the Umpqua Watersheds website: https://umpquawatersheds.org.

Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. the group will have its monthly “Turning Over a New Leaf” book club session, which is a virtual event.

Sunday at 2:00 p.m. the Eco Innovations Challenge will be a virtual event where those participating can hear from fellow community members who have proposals to deal with local environmentally-related issues.
