A home and a shop in northeast Roseburg sustained significant structural and water damage in a fire on Thursday.
Fire Chief Monte Bryan of the Roseburg Fire Department said just before 7:30 a.m. firefighters responded to the report of a fire in the 2900 block of Northeast Yount Avenue. The initial report was that a shop was on fire next to the residence. Dispatch was notified that all the residents were out of the structures. Bryan said while enroute, firefighters observed a large column of smoke in the vicinity of the reported fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a detached garage engulfed in flames which were spreading to the house. Firefighters made an interior attack to extinguish the fire and completed overhaul.
Bryan said two adults and three children were displaced but no one was injured. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents.
Bryan said the cause of the fire is under investigation, however all indicators are leading to a heat lamp inside a chicken coop. Fourteen firefighters worked at the fire. A number of other agencies assisted at the scene.
The fire was near Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard, causing some traffic issues for a time. Smoke from the blaze could be seen throughout a wide area of northeast Roseburg.
