A Roseburg woman was hospitalized and a Dillard man was jailed, following a single- vehicle wreck on Monday night.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said just before 7:00 p.m. a witness reported the accident in the 3400 block of Willis Creek Road near Winston. The witness said a sedan was going northbound when it drifted into the oncoming lane, nearly striking the southbound vehicle the witness was driving. The first vehicle struck the embankment on the west side of the roadway, and then rolled into the middle of the roadway, according to the witness.

The report said the 18-year old passenger was ejected and landed in a nearby field. She was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for treatment. The woman was listed in serious condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The driver, 19-year old Jackie Willis, was charged with reckless driving, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, fourth-degree assault, having no operator’s license and driving uninsured. Willis was detained but was released from custody that evening.
