VOLUNTEER AND EDUCATION EVENT AT BUTTERFLY GARDEN SATURDAY

April 8, 2021 3:20 a.m.

A number of local organizations are teaming up for a volunteer and education event at the butterfly garden in Stewart Park on Saturday.

Community Garden Coordinator Zenya Ledermann with the Umpqua Community Veg Education Group and Blues Zones Project Umpqua said those attending can help with cleaning the new garden and then hear talks about Monarch butterflies and ospreys. Speakers will be from the Elkton Community Education Center and the Umpqua Valley Audubon Society.

The butterfly garden is just east of the section of the bike path that runs between the YMCA and the Stewart Park train, east of Northwest Stewart Parkway.

The cleanup will take place starting at 10:30 a.m. with the talks running between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Masks are required for those attending. The City of Roseburg Parks and Recreation Department is also part of the event.
