SUSPECT IN FRIDAY STABBING CAPTURED

The suspect in a stabbing has been jailed and is being held on multiple charges.

Friday night Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police said that Elijah Wallace had been taken into custody. The 21-year old is accused of stabbing his 47-year old girlfriend at about 1:15 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of South East Front Street in Oakland.

Wallace allegedly fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle and then abandoned it at the Meadows Mobile Home Park in the 500 block of South State Street in Sutherlin. Wallace then took off on foot, according to a Sutherlin Police report.

He was taken into custody late Friday afternoon. Charges include second-degree assault, menacing and unlawful use of a weapon. Bail is set at $306,250.

The victim was life flighted to an out of area hospital following the stabbing. She was listed in fair condition on Friday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesperson.
