TWO REMAIN HOSPITALIZED FOLLOWING MONDAY FATAL WRECK

Two people remain hospitalized following Monday afternoon’s fatal wreck south of Roseburg.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 4:50 p.m. a northbound sedan on Highway 99, just east of Interstate Five, drifted into the oncoming lane and side swiped another sedan before colliding with an SUV.

The driver of the first vehicle, 43-year old Kyle Northern was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in his sedan, 31-year old Elizabeth Calvillo-Hawelu, is listed in fair condition at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, according to a hospital spokesperson. The driver of the third-vehicle, 65-year old William Metcalf is in good condition at Oregon Health and Science University, also in Portland.

The driver of the second vehicle, 72-year old Collen Bendan was treated and released at CHI Mercy Medical Center, following the accident.
