DRIVER CITED AFTER DROPPING PHONE LEADS TO COLLISION

A driver was cited after dropping his phone led to a collision on Saturday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at around 4:00 p.m. a 17-year old was headed south on Eagle Valley Road near Boswell Road in the Drain area. After the phone fell to the floor, the driver left his lane of travel as he was trying to reach it. A second driver was traveling north pulling a trailer of wood and attempted to swerve into the opposing lane to avoid an accident.

The report said the first vehicle struck the side of the second vehicle and collided mostly with the trailer, causing significant front-end damage. No injuries were reported.

The driver who caused the accident was cited with careless driving.
