Oregon has been approved to issue Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program emergency allotments for this month.
A release from the Oregon Department of Human Services said the emergency allotments will be available:
*March 11th for SNAP recipients
*March 31st for new SNAP recipients after March 11th
The release said the emergency allotments raise each household’s regular monthly SNAP allotment to the maximum allowable amount based on household size. The release said per federal rules, SNAP households already receiving the maximum allowable allotment based on household size are not eligible to receive the emergency allotment.
The release said SNAP recipients do not have to taken any action as the supplemental benefits will be issued directly on their EBT cards.
