Dr. Jason Gray was recently honored as the 2020 Mercy Physician of the Year.
Kathleen Nickel from CHI Mercy Medical Center said Dr. Gray was recognized for his guiding leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nickel said Dr. Gray holds two positions at Mercy, one as a practicing anesthesiologist and the other as Mercy’s Chief Medical Officer.
Nickel said a nomination form submitted by staff said Dr. Gray was recognized for his responsiveness and caring. Staff said Dr. Gray was always willing to answer a text or phone call no matter the issue. He was commended for finding answers to so many questions during “..these unknown and unprecedented times”. The nomination said that Dr Gray, “…always strives to maximize the safety of everyone”. It concluded, “In addition to an unparalleled depth of clinical knowledge and business savvy, he widely shares his knowledge for the benefit of patients, physician colleagues and staff”.
Mercy President and CEO Kelly Morgan said the hospital is pleased to be able to recognize Dr. Gray for his continued contributions to the Mercy family, patients and community. He said, “Dr Gray embodies the very best of Mercy and truly lives our core values of collaboration, integrity & inclusion, compassion and excellence every day”.
