A Nebraska man died in a weekend wreck just west of Roseburg.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday night at about 7:50 p.m. reports came in of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Garden Valley Road near Melrose Road. O’Dell said bystanders began life savings efforts until emergency personnel arrived on the scene.

Deputies located a pickup which had rolled several times. Witnesses reported that the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed while attempting to make a sharp correction before it went out of control.

O’Dell said the driver, later identified as 53-year old Dennis Dandridge of Bellevue, Nebraska, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Dandridge was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Speed and alcohol appeared to be contributing factors to the crash.

A number of agencies assisted DCSO at the scene.
