A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 4:00 a.m. Saturday for mountain areas in the region.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected. Winds will gust up to 45 miles per hour over exposed terrain.

The Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains including Crater Lake and Diamond Lake. Parts of highways 138, 230, 62, 58 and 140 are under the Advisory.

Drivers should carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibility.
