A Yoncalla man was taken to the hospital following a wreck on Tuesday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 11:30 a.m. a woman contacted dispatch and said the man had taken her SUV from a residence on Eagle Valley Road and was possibly driving while intoxicated.
The report said while a deputy was searching for the vehicle, a crash was reported in the 7,000 block of Goodrich Highway in the Oakland area. The deputy responded and found that the man in question had wrecked the vehicle by striking the guardrail while traveling uphill. The SUV then rolled for about 50 yards. The driver was ejected approximately 20 yards beyond the vehicle.
The man was life flighted and taken to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. He was listed in critical condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
