A woman escaped a mobile home fire in Winston, early Monday morning.
Battalion Chief Scott Richardson of Douglas County Fire District No. 2 said just after 2:00 a.m. crews from the district and from the Winston Dillard Fire District responded to the 900 block of Winston Section Road for a report of a house on fire.
Richardson said crews arrived to find a single-wide mobile home with heavy fire and smoke showing throughout the trailer. The report said the female occupant got out before firefighters arrived. She said that she was the only one living in the residence. The initial crew made an aggressive exterior attack and quickly extinguished the fire. Richardson told News Radio 1240 KQEN that the home is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
