Celebration of Literacy has a special opportunity for kids and families on Saturday.
Organizer Maxine Durst said “Celebrate Literacy at the Safari” will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Durst said families who live in the county can travel the drive through for free. Kids will be given a book as they begin.
Durst said a walking story book will be in the Safari Village. Kids can read a story as they move through the village.
Durst said while some events this year had to be canceled due to COVID-19, Altrusa International and the Umpqua Literacy Council remain committed to spreading their message that literacy is important.
Other activities are taking place in the next week organized at the Glendale, Canyonville and Reedsport libraries. The “One County, One Book” promotion will conclude February 26th with the Riddle, Yoncalla and Sutherlin libraries
