A northeast Roseburg home is unlivable after sustaining structural and water damage in a fire Thursday morning.

Fire Marshal Monte Bryan of the Roseburg Fire Department told News Radio 1240 KQEN that said just after 8:40 a.m. fire personnel responded to the fire in the 1100 block of Northeast Lincoln. A passerby said that smoke was showing from the roof of the structure and it was unknown if there were any residents inside the structure. Bryan said that crews arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke showing from the roof of the two-story home.

Firefighters made an interior attack and were able to find the fire and quickly extinguish it. While completing a primary search, crews found and rescued two dogs that were inside the residence. A secondary search found no victims and overhaul was completed. Bryan said it was determined that the homeowner was not at the residence at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to protect surrounding homes from damage. One adult and the dogs were displaced due to the fire.

A fire investigator was on scene and determined that the fire was caused by cooking and found to be accidental in nature. 12 firefighters assisted in the firefighting operations. A number of other agencies also assisted with the fire.
