1 more person has died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 35 more people have received new positive test results, and there is 1 new presumptive case, as of Tuesday.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the 50th death is a 73-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 and passed away on Monday.

An update from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team said the total number of cases has passed 2,000 and is now at 2,027. Of those, 1,924 are people that have received positive test results and 103 are presumptive. 10 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 7 locally and 3 outside the area. 196 people are in isolation. 328 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 524 people that are either in isolation or quarantine.

The update said while the county managed to stay in the High Risk level, 200 new cases have been reported in the past two weeks. Dannenhoffer said DPHN is dealing with two outbreaks in the area. More details are expected on Wednesday.

The update said those who are visiting, delivering, volunteering, or working in a care facility, should take the utmost care in following the proven health and safety measures to protect themselves and others. There have also been 18 school outbreaks since the start of the year which has had a dramatic impact on schools, staff, educators, parents and students. The update said the rest of the recent cases are “…the unfortunate consequence of residents who continue to host celebrations and parties, travel to COVID hot spot areas, invite people to visit from out of the area, and attended in-person congregate social gatherings where COVID-19 safety measures were not being followed”.

The next drive through testing clinic will be Friday in Roseburg.
