TWO JAILED FOLLOWING INCIDENT IN CHARTER OAKS

Two people were jailed following an alleged assault incident in the Charter Oaks area on Saturday night.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said multiple units responded to the 3000 block of Tillcum Street just after 9:00 p.m. following reports of gunshots. 41-year old Bobby Umbarger was located and said that 32-year old Tyler Cox had fired a gunshot towards the ground after a physical altercation. Cox was located in a nearby home.

The report said units from DCSO, Roseburg Police and the Oregon State Police set up a perimeter and after a considerable amount of time and effort, were able to detain Cox without incident.

Cox claimed that Umbarger had shot at him after an altercation with another person. Cox had injuries to his face including a chipped tooth. No firearm was located.

Umbarger was charged with fourth degree assault, second degree disorderly conduct and for a parole violation. Cox was held for an outstanding warrant. Both were detained without bail.
