COVID-19 CLAIMS 5 MORE LIVES, STATE DEATH TOLL PASSES 2,000

COVID-19 has claimed 5 more lives, as Oregon passes the 2,000 mark for deaths from the virus, with the state’s death toll now at 2,002, as of Friday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 846 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 146,138. The new cases include:

*136 in Multnomah County

*132 in Marion County

*92 in Washington County

*83 in Lane County

*42 in Clackamas County

*36 in Jackson County

*31 in Umatilla County

*26 in Douglas County

*25 in Deschutes County

*23 in Yamhill County

*21 in Malheur County

*20 each in Benton and Linn counties

*19 in Coos County

*17 in Josephine County

*16 in Jefferson County

*15 each in Lake and Polk counties

*12 in Union County

*10 in Columbia County

*9 each in Harney and Lincoln counties

*8 in Crook County

*6 in Clatsop County

*5 each in Curry and Morrow counties

*4 each in Klamath and Wasco counties

*2 in Hood River County

*1 each in Baker, Tillamook and Wallowa counties

The new deaths ranged in age from 65 to 90. 1 each lived in Linn, Hood River, Yamhill, Josephine and Multnomah counties

OHA said the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 238, which is 23 fewer than on Thursday. There are 59 COVID-19 patients in tensive care unit beds, which is 1 more than on Thursday.

OHA reported that 22,724 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of this total, 12,898 doses were administered on Thursday. 9,826 were administered on previous days but added into the vaccine registry on Thursday.

Oregon has now administered a cumulative total of 509,582 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. To date, 733,975 doses of vaccine have been delivered to sites across Oregon.
