A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect above 1,500 feet through 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, for a wide area of the region.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said 1 to 4 inches of snow is expected between 1,500 feet and 3,000 feet with 4 to 9 inches at elevations above 3,000 feet. 6 to 12 inches is expected for the southern Oregon Cascades and the Siskiyou Mountains. Winds will gust to 25 miles per hour except between 35 and 45 miles per hour above 3,000 feet.
The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains and the Klamath Basin. The passes on Interstate Five between Azalea and Sunny Valley may also be impacted. It also includes all highways and passes in the southern Oregon Cascades including Highways 62, 230, 138, 140, 66 and portions of Interstate Five near the Siskiyou Summit.
Forecasters said travel could be difficult to impossible. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
