The Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team has arrested two men accused of being involved in local and interstate drug trafficking crimes.

Lieutenant Rick McArthur said on Tuesday night DINT detectives and deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Coos Bay Wagon Road near Reston Road, in rural Douglas County. McArthur said a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed approximately two pounds of cocaine and a loaded firearm.

DINT followed up a short time later with a search warrant for a residence in the 1900 block of Dairy Loop Road. McArthur said a search of that property yielded a large amount of illegal controlled substances and other drug paraphernalia. In total, detectives seized approximately 13 pounds of suspected cocaine and approximately 4 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

Detectives arrested 59-year old David Zoeter of Lookingglass, and 46-year old Eric Gonzalez-Velez of Desert Springs, California. Zoeter was charged was unlawful possession and delivery of meth while Gonzalez-Velez was charged with unlawful possession and delivery of cocaine. Both were detained in the Douglas County Jail.
